The Center for Forests and Climate Change is a non-for-profit organization which focuses on forest protection, community livelihood, climate change, research, and carbon sequestration. The Centre for Forests and Climate Change at Agrosystems Group is a resources center for natural habitats and species conservation. Making use of field surveys, GIS, remote sensing and LiDAR technologies, socioeconomic
and statistical models, the center collects, analyzes and disseminates data on environmental sustainability.
With a national and international focus, the center also develops, monitors and evaluates multidimensional parameters pertaining to ecosystem services, forest dynamics and biodiversity conservation. These include but are not limited to aspects of species distribution, land use/land cover changes, population dynamics (resilience, resistance, persistence and community structure of local species), climate change scenarios, gender and socioeconomic policy analysis, development, implementation and forest management services at various temporal and spatial scales.
These multidimensional parameters provide an understanding of how the human induced changes, and climate vagaries may affect biodiversity conservation and delivery of ecosystem services. These also provide knowledge on human-wildlife conflicts, youth empowerment, existing synergies between nature management and forest dependent communities.
Our Mission
The Center for Forest and Climate Change exists to combat climate change and improve livelihoods through forest conservation, restoration, and sustainable management. We bridge the gap between scientific research and community action, creating solutions that benefit both people and planet.
Our Vision
A world where thriving forests serve as pillars of climate stability, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable community development—where environmental protection and economic opportunity go hand in hand.
Our Values
- Community-Centered: Local communities are our partners, not beneficiaries
- Science-Based: Evidence guides every decision and intervention
- Sustainability: Long-term thinking drives short-term actions
- Collaboration: Partnerships amplify our collective impact
- Transparency: Open communication builds trust and accountability
- Innovation: Creative solutions address complex challenges
Our Story
Founded in 2015 by a team of forestry experts, climate scientists, and community development practitioners, CFCC emerged from a recognition that forest conservation and community development must work together. Our founders witnessed firsthand how top-down conservation efforts often failed when communities were excluded, and how development projects succeeded when they worked with natural ecosystems rather than against them.
Starting with pilot projects in three communities, we’ve grown into a respected organization working across multiple countries. Our success stems from our unwavering commitment to participatory approaches, scientific rigor, and adaptive management.
